The symptoms generally come on slowly, thus, they can go unnoticed or ignored for years and, because they don't come in a group or in any specific order, are often misdiagnosed. Personally, though, I believe that the greatest stumbling block to the diagnoses of hypothyroidism is doctors, especially if you are a woman.
